We went to see Stardom USA, a Japanese women’s pro-wrestling event, touring the US for the first time, in Covina on a Friday night. We loved it so much that I asked to come photograph the Sunday night show in Baldwin Park. So. Much. Fun. Here’s the expanded photo gallery! I posted about 36 or […]
Yes, things have slowed down. Yes, it is because we are lazy jerks. But it’s always on MMAFighting.com anyway, right? This is more our random journey through life in MMA. Meh. We have a tumblr waiting in the wings to keep us more active. Really been digging Fightlinker’s. I figured I’d fill in the gaps […]
DUDE. Did you watch the fights?! Aldo vs Mendes? I am so sad I wasn’t there to capture this. But so excited to watch it as a fan! Dude!
I know it’s not fair but I had to take a short break to package a ton of shirts, make tons of mix CDs, and to shoot production stills on the SHOSports feature shoot for Andre Berto vs VIctor Ortiz II. I wanted to let you know I actually have many posts in draft form […]
Yup! Shirts are finally back in stock and we have a new addition. A tri-blend lavender long-sleeved shirt with raglan shoulders (meaning it fits your shoulders no matter how wide or narrow) and a wide neck. It’s loose and slightly oversized, but shorter than our regular t-shirt. I like to pair it with leggings and […]
Day four. A sampling of random images from this past week in Toronto. I bought a fisheye attachment for my iPhone last year but we moved and I misplaced it for long time. Well, I dug it out and went a little overboard these last few weeks. Sorry. But here’s the result of that: […]
I carry my little point-and-shoot 35mm Konica Big Mini around with me, usually loaded with Fuji Natura 1600 or Ilford XP2 (for fun) and I do my best to remember to take photos for personal posterity while working. Here’s a bunch of stuff I’ve shot on film over the last few months. I’ll be posting […]
No need to recap the Olympic events for you, as there were almost 3000 credentialed media to do that for you. I wanted to share a few of my favorite videos I shot at the 2010 Winter Olympics. I honestly feel that these videos capture the essence of what it was like to be in Vancouver for the Olympics.
As I’d mentioned in this post, I don’t have anything booked this week, both on purpose and by chance — so I am cleaning the office, writing, reading, and spending time with my dogs. Now, I like to take work whenever it comes because as a freelancer, it is difficult to say no because there […]
Just letting you know that our resident video shooter/cutter extraordinaire Casey is currently on a three-week expedition to cover the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver with Fanhouse‘s Ariel Helwani, and so we have not made any new videos to present to you that are within the world of MMA. I’m taking much needed time off […]
What’s this? An awesome-o shirt from Scramble, a store full of amazing things from Martial Farts, aka Matthew Benyon. If you’re a gentle fan of this brutal sport like myself, you’ll appreciate the clean original Scramble designs as well as the super-frickin’ awesome designs by Art Junkie Tokyo, only available at Scramble and well, in […]
If we’re not on a plane, we’re in our car, driving either to or from Las Vegas on Interstate 15, to or from a Zuffa show, and we pass by skeletons of grand ideas, quiet, abandoned, burned. Last time, we stopped to snap photos of a burned semi (which is still there, two months later), […]
Feeling inspired by the new year and unusually warm winter (here in LA, anyway), I threw together two posters for the upcoming Strikeforce event on January 30th in Sunrise, FL.
Here are photos we took to and from (and some in) Vegas for The Ultimate Fighter Finale. Nothin’ much to say really except take a look! Most of these were taken by Casey, I threw a few in here and there, but obviously not the ones that I’m in, duh.
I had the pleasure of shooting undefeated Mixed Martial artist Reggie Warren Jr. about two months back when he dropped by our studio while gettin’ some Busch Light. Here’s the resulting art. And we’ll be in Vegas covering the TUF Finale starting tomorrow. Casey will be with Fanhouse and I’ll be repping Fighters Only (which […]
Just wanted to share this video of Manny Pacquiao performing “Sometimes When We Touch” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I think Pacquiao singing this song is just lovely and honest, little squeaks and all. And darn brave.
Our good friend Julia Lillis wrote this lovely song about her favorite lovable teddy bear of a fighter, Fedor Emelianenko. We hope you like it!
Despite the empty headlines of our site and seemingly unchanging slideshow on the main page, we here at All Elbows were actually quite busy last week! Casey was working for AOL Fanhouse while I was shooting for Fighters Only Magazine. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the top photos are exclusive to the upcoming issue of the mag, […]
Casey and I went to the Lyoto Machida open workout today at the Black House gym in Gardena, he for AOL Fanhouse and I for Fighters Only Magazine. There were lots of good eats to be had at this merry occasion including various cookies decorated with a Machida silhouette! I was able to get “The […]
Dana White announced on his twitter this past Friday that he’d be somewhere in West Los Angeles by mid afternoon to give out free tickets to UFC 104, which is happening just down the street from All Elbows Headquarters at the Staples Center. I will likely be shooting for the best magazine in the world, […]
I mourned the day Genki Sudo retired from fighting. At least there’s always YouTube! We stumbled across this newly posted music video for Genki Sudo’s “World Order.” There are a million things to enjoy about this video from a production standpoint. One, I’d never thought to purposely shoot wide establishing shots out of focus for […]
Whoever’s in charge of marketing Tekken 6 chose the lovely subject of fighter motivation and pulled together some notables around Los Angeles to make this very beautiful promo. I love the way this piece is shot. The actual speeches are whatever but the imagery is gorgeous. And of course, we’re thrilled to see “The Outlaw” […]
While I’m not a journalist, and it’s probably impossible for me to be impartial because I shoot for Strikeforce, I do read all the MMA news blogs and try to keep up with the whole world of MMA. Over the last few weeks there’s been loads of bad reports, false sources, and a lot of mean-spirited opinion. And it’s getting to be too much for me. I had to step back and ignore all the opinion and try to find the actual news. Strikeforce is the second promotion I’ve worked for — the first being EliteXC (in a series of roles, it’s a very long story), and working with fighters face to face really changes the way you “report” on them.
