There’s nothing like seeing Converge live. I feel so alive. The fervor in the pit isn’t anger, it’s intense mutual love. A camaraderie among strangers, even onstage where I stood — guys in the opening bands air drummed along to the songs and stage dove along with the crowd.
I haven’t shot live music since I don’t know, 2005. I’ll admit, I’d rather be yelling along and climbing the pile instead of shooting. I know. That’s how much I love being at these shows. I don’t miss shooting concerts though. Only because I’d always rather be part of it, fist up.
I took a few shots of openers Kvelertak, Nails, and Torche — and I’ve included them here.
Thanks to Matt Pike, Converge, and the great stage manager for being so accommodating. Next time I won’t be so shy about getting my shots — I am usually trying to invisible and wanted so much not to interfere with anyone’s enjoyment of one of the bands I’ve ever seen.
