Funny reffing again mars a Strikeforce show as the Vieira vs Ford ends with Ford unconscious for what I would guess to be at least ten seconds, where I saw his leg go limp then a good while later, convulse. And what would’ve been the great welcome party for Rowdy Ronda Rousey was ruined [...]
FINALLY. I am done with my weekend of MMA and local travels and I have finished sifting through Strikeforce Challengers: Voelker vs Bowling III. Certainly it was different to cover Strikeforce from the media standpoint for the first time in over two years but it gave me a chance to brush up on shooting [...]
Just returned from Stockton and on my way to San Diego for Strikeforce: Diaz vs Daley. While I have no answers for you as what will happen to yours truly, I wanted to share my gallery from the event because despite the massive plumes of smoke floating through the cage during the fights, I did [...]
It’s 4 am and I drove down from Fresno after shooting Strikeforce Challengers. Um, yeah, it’s 4 am, so I’m not going to write much. Don’t be selfish, I’m tired. I’ll relate all the cool stories Sunday afternoon over a cup o’ tea & a coffee bun. So enjoy these pictures while I nap for [...]
Phoenix was interesting. The fights were good, though I’ll say it again, three minute rounds are far too short for the women’s bouts. The layout of the theater was probably nice for fans, a bit uncomfortable for the media, but I hope the spectators had a good time — seemed like they did. Fans ran [...]
Weigh-ins & studio today here in warm Phoenix. Got to meet all the tournament participants today and I’m thoroughly excited for tomorrow night — oh wait, it’s past midnight now — tonight’s fights. Wanted to post a few shots from today’s weigh-ins, I apologize for not more comprehensive photo coverage. My speedlite died halfway through [...]
I had an amazing week in Everett, WA. Casey and I had the opportunity to follow around Strikeforce Champion Sarah Kaufman and challenger Roxanne Modafferi as they prepared for their title clash, their fight, and after. Thank you to both Sarah and Roxy for letting me into their lives at a time when most fighters [...]
This week, Casey and I arrived in Everett early to document the lead-up to the big title fight on Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers’ card, Sarah Kaufman defends her Women’s 135 belt against the formidable and experienced fighter, Roxanne Modafferi.
Photos from last Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers Series at the SaveMart Arena in scenic Fresno, or as we like to say, Fres-Yes! Threw in a couple of the studio shots as well. Overall, solid show except Cormier didn’t knock out John Devine at an angle where I could ever get a photo of it. Ha. Flew [...]
While spending my entire very late night listening to MMAWeekly radio, I uploaded these photos from Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers card for your perusal. I’m not thrilled, yes, I know I say this every time. I’ve got a ton of excuses but there are still a few winners in there. I love the venue’s intimacy and [...]
I was in Kansas City shooting Strikeforce Challengers: Woodley vs Bears for Strikeforce and here’s the gallery from the night. All in all, great fights and Vera had a great showing for her Strikeforce debut. My favorite fight was Erik Apple vs Bobby Voelker. Watching Voelker come back from being rocked early in the first round was really thrilling, and the crowd went wild for their hometown boy making an amazing comeback.
Sorry for the lack of updates, Casey is in Vegas for UFC and I’m in Kansas City for Strikeforce Challengers. We’ve been doing our duties in the MMA world and not posting enough here. So here’s some photos from my week here in KC. And no, I haven’t had any BBQ yet, much to my [...]
