Sumo. Full of tradition, conflict, scandal. Even in these gorgeous images by Tomoki Momozono, I’m hearing the audio from the Freakonomics segment on sumo wrestling. It makes the images more beautiful, to me.
Hypebeast says:
Japanese photographer Tomoki Momozono, otherwise known as MOMO, began his career as a sports photographer in 2001. Following a couple of stints as a studio assistant and trainee photographer, MOMO honed his skills in photography and lighting, which eventually turned into a contract with Japanese publisher Bungeishunju.
Momo has a lovely eye for shape and light. These are wonderfully inspirational and fit right into the aesthetic I’ve already been testing out with some shots.
I didn’t want to post them all here, I feel you should really view them on Momozono’s Behance profile.
His other sports work is stellar as well. His set, punk rocker, is gorgeous too.
